This hostel is a nine-minute walk from downtown Anchorage and offers both private and shared rooms. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel and public computers are on-site.
All private rooms at the Alaska Backpackers Inn feature cable TV and a mini-refrigerator. Shared rooms provide an individual locker for each guest with locks offered at the hostel.
Ten shared bathrooms are available, with both male only and female only bathrooms available. Seven bathrooms contain showers. A fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities are also open on-site.
Guests of the Backpackers Inn can relax in the day room, featuring a 50-inch TV, board games and table games. A reading room contains books, magazines and a computer.
The Backpackers Inn Alaska is a 10-minute walk from the Anchorage Museum and a 16-minute walk from the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.

About Alaska Backpackers Inn
This summer we are very exited to announce that have taken on the challenge of providing more private rooms due to the high demand. We will be offering updated rooms with an urban feel in the annex building (less than one block away on the same street)! We are now providing full one bedroom private suites with full kitchens and bathrooms. Our annex building is in the midst of transforming this summer into a sister hostel for ABI.
The main building has 80 beds broken in small dorms (2, 4, or 6 beds per dorm) and private rooms. The annex building will have both the newly added Deluxe Private Rooms and the suites
Private rooms include cable TV (80 channels plus Showtime) and Micro-fridges on each room. Deluxe private rooms offer the same as the other. They are just more private and newly remodeled. Each of these deluxe rooms will only be sharing the bathroom and a kitchenette with one more other room. There will also be an additional different area for the new building with a bigger fully equipped kitchen like in our main building in case guest would like to socialize. 2 shares dorms have micro fridges, individual lockers (locks not provided), and each bed has its own low voltage light besides the main light.
Other facilities include cable TV in a large common area which also has a Foosball table and vending machines, reading room, kitchen, laundry facilities, lots of clean spacious shared bathrooms and much more.
In addition to adding more rooms, we will also be offering dining room service. Our guests will be able to enjoy a wide variety of menu items from the comfort of their rooms. In the process, we have given all the rooms their own temperature control gauge for individual comfort.
With growth comes excitement and sometimes a bit of confusion. We look forward to and thank you for your business and patronage this summer. We are striving to meet as many of your needs as an economical and traveler friendly hostel can.

MAIN BUILDING
Our mother hostel ABI is located close to downtown headquarters. Built with the environment in mind, we tried to use recycled materials with an artistic Alaskan flair. Each room has a unique and brightly colored mural. The hallways have become a canvas for budding artists or message boards from previous travelers, leaving their memories behind. ABI is celebrating its’ 6th summer in 2012! Thanks to all of you.

As 2012 summer approaches, we are getting ready for the upcoming season. Anchorage is bustling with activity getting ready for the summer season. Tourism in Alaska has increased and we are prepared to meet backpackers’ needs.
Travel is changing right along with the world. More and more people are looking for affordable travel. They still want the experiences and adventures but at a reduced cost. Hostels meet that need. They allow travelers of all ages to benefit from enjoying their trip without the high cost of the experience.
Whether you’re a King Salmon fisherman, bear hunter, ice climber, or avid hiker, Alaska provides a diverse experience.
